SAN ANTONIO, Texas — Adrian Peterson missed practice on Thursday to deal with a personal situation. USA Today reported Saturday night that Peterson’s 2-year-old son had died on Friday at a hospital in Sioux, S.D.
Peterson refused to comment about the incident after practice on Friday, but Minnesota Public Radio reported that Lincoln County State’s Attorney confirmed the death of the child and said he had been in critical condition with severe head injuries. Joseph Patterson, 27, has been charged with aggravated assault and aggravated battery and was in court on Friday. He is now being held on a $750,000 cash bond.
Peterson has made a statement to reporters saying he will be playing this Sunday against Carolina and that football has always been something he can fall back on. He has also thanked all the people who have reached out to him with messages of support. (The Guardian)
