Las Vegas, – On Sept. 19, 2013, The stadium formally known as Sam Boyd Stadium has now been renamed to Bellagio Stadium at Sam Boyd Field.
The High Rollers number one sponsor and supporter, Bobby Boyd, Bellagio chief executive officer, insisted the renovations were necessary to accommodate the team and their fans. “This is how I see it, if Las Vegas is going to do NFL, then we have to do it the right way. We are very excited with the completed project and we are sure our fans and athletes will be as well,” said Boyd.
Sam Boyd stadium currently hosts several sports including The University of Nevada Las Vegas’ football games, rugby and supercross events. The Bellagio Hotel and Casino has renovated the stadium, adding 30,000 seats as well as multiple VIP Boxes, a club level bar with blackjack tables, and slot machines.
Original sponsors of the stadium, the Sam Boyd Family, are very happy with the new renovations and are very pleased with the name change. “We are so grateful to share the stadium name with a supportive organization such as the Bellagio. My father was great friends with Mr. Bobby Boyd, and would be proud of what has come of the stadium,” said Sam Boyd Jr.
The stadium once held a maximum capacity of 40,000 and now holds a maximum capacity of 70,000. In addition to the stadium renovations, The Bellagio has built a new parking deck off of E. Russell Road to accommodate the new stadium; also game day shuttles will run from several alternate parking lots in the surrounding Whitney area to accommodate the increased fan level.
“Working with Bobby Boyd and the Sam Boyd family to make sure all our fans and athletes needs were met during this renovation was my most important task. Bobby Boyd, Sam Boyd Jr., and I really wanted to make sure the true sense of Vegas was there and I am proud to say we achieved our goal,” said Matt Goodie, Owner of the High Rollers.
