PORTLAND,ORE.-After the Portland Pirates began the season with a 2-0 record, they have lost five straight games. Due to untimely injuries, poor management and under performing play, the Portland Pirates have not been able to rack up enough points to win a match-up over the last month.
Running back DeMarco Murray’s foot injury on October 14 during the Pirates vs. Pointyheads game and Darrius Heyward- Bey’s head injury earlier in the season have depleted the Pirates’ roster. Furthermore, top draft picks Steve Smith and Darren McFadden have been unable to reach expectations.Murray’s test results should be back sometime early this week, letting fans know if he will be able to play in Week 8 against the Multiple Scorgasms Deux. Based on the extent of his injury, the Pirates may need to start looking towards free agency or possibly a trade in order to bolster their roster and snap the 5-game losing skid.
“We’re certainly optimistic. He’s proven to be someone who heals quickly. We’ll monitor him day-by-day, but we’ll have to wait and see,” said Portland Pirates General Manager Carleigh Colley. “Pirates are concerned DeMarco Murray foot injury could result in multi-game absence but player tells teammates he will play vs Multiple Scorgasms Deux next week,” tweeted ESPN’s Ed Werder. The Portland Pirates are keeping their hopes up for a fast and full recovery from Murray, along with Heyward- Bey’s performance to improve.
The Portland Pirates are currently 2-5-0and will be taking on the 1-5-0 Multiple Scorgasms Deux at home at Jeld-Wen Field next Sunday October 28th. The Pirates are scheduled 13 regular season games for the 2012-2013 season as a part of the IFFY conference. For more information about the Pirates Franchise, visit www.portlandpirates.com.
