San Antonio Rolls to Third Consecutive Victory
SAN ANTONIO, Oct. 8, 2012 – The San Antonio Defenders (3-2) won for a third consecutive game, defeating the previously unbeaten Team Awesome (4-1) 113.66 to 77.10 in Week 5 of the IFFY league season.
Wide receiver Marques Colston had the best individual performance of the season for San Antonio, with 31.10 points on 131 receiving yards and 3 receiving touchdowns. Eli Manning contributed 20.26 points, throwing 3 touchdowns passes for the second time this season.
“We put in a great week of practice and it paid off on game day,” Colston said. “All the credit goes to my quarterback for finding me in the end zone. Hopefully we can continue to make plays and get wins.”
Brandon Marshall and Matt Ryan led Team Awesome in points, with 20.40 and 18.20 respectively. Marshall finished the week as the fourth leading scorer amongst wide receivers in the league.
“We did a lot of good things on the field today,” said Marshall. “We just couldn’t keep up with the Defenders. All we can do is come out next week and put up points like we have all season.”
The 113.66 points scored is San Antonio’s second consecutive game of over 100 points. The Defenders improved to 2-1 at home, and will go on the road to play the Albuquerque Rattlers (2-3) in Week 6.
