HONOLULU—Oct. 5, 2012. Honolulu Seasider’s general manager Amanda Gianni announced Thursday that quarterback Jay Cutler will start the team’s next game against the Albuquerque Rattlers, replacing the struggling Matthew Stafford. With quarterback remaining a weak spot in the Seasiders’ lineup, the team hopes that Cutler can provide a spark and help the team end its two game losing streak.
“ Neither quarterback has been performing up to expectations, so we’re looking for someone to really step up and earn the starting job,” said the Seasiders head coach.
While Cutler has shown flashes of brilliance in his seven year career, his poor-decision making and questionable attitude have kept him from living up to his full potential. Despite his flaws, his teammates remain confident in his ability.
“Jay has proven that he can be an elite NFL quarterback, and we’re confident he can lead us to victory on Sunday,” said wide receiver Brian Hartline.
With receivers Hartline, Steve Johnson, Antonio Brown and tight end Jimmy Graham providing a talented receiving corps and running backs Ryan Mathews and Stevan Ridley forming an effective one-two punch in the backfield, Cutler has been given the tools to succeed. Now it’s up to him to take control of the team and bring the Seasiders back to their winning ways.
