This site was created by a group of JMU undergraduate students in the Spring of 2014. As part of course on Oral History taught by Prof. Evan Friss, each student interviewed a community member who lived through the process of urban renewal in Harrisonburg in the early 1960s. The students have edited the videos that appear on this site. The full-length videos and transcripts of each interview can be found at Special Collections in the JMU library.
Thanks to everyone who participated in the interviews as well as the folks at CIT (Kevin Hegg, Nicole Wilson, Christine Donovan, Dave Stoops, Deborah Pugh) who helped to create this site and who helped the students create these videos. If you have any questions or comments about the interviews or the larger project, please contact Prof. Evan Friss (frissej@jmu.edu).
