Workshop events will be taking place in the Montpelier Room, located on the second floor of East Campus Dining Hall.

James Madison University is located in Harrisonburg, Virginia in the middle of the Shenandoah Valley just off of interstate I-81. The Valley is served by the Shenandoah Valley Regional Airport in Weyers Cave just 15 minutes from campus. Alternative airports include Charlottesville Ablemarle Airport approximately a 1 hour drive from Harrisonburg and Dulles International Airport which is about a 2 hour drive away.

Coming from points north (Winchester) traveling southbound on Interstate 81:

  • Take Exit 245 and turn left at the end of the exit ramp. Stay in the left lane and turn left at the second light onto Forest Hill Rd. (there is a Royal Mart Gas Station on the corner)
  • When you reach the stop sign, turn left onto Oak Hill Rd., which will turn into University Blvd. You will pass the Convocation Center on your left and the Arboretum on your right.
  • After passing the Arboretum turn left at the traffic light (entering JMU’s campus) onto Carrier Dr.
  • The East Campus Dining Hall is the first building on your left, though you will continue straight to the C12 parking lots located across the street from the Festival Conference and Student Center.
  • Once you enter the East Campus Dining Hall, the stairs to the second floor and Montpelier Room are straight ahead.

Coming from points south (Staunton) traveling northbound on Interstate 81:

  • Take Exit 245 and turn right at the end of the exit ramp. Move immediately into the far left turning lane and turn left at the light onto Forest Hill Rd. (there is a Royal Mart Gas Station on the corner)
  • When you reach the stop sign, turn left onto Oak Hill Rd., which will turn into University Blvd. You will pass the Convocation Center on your left and the Arboretum on your right.
  • After passing the Arboretum turn left at the traffic light (entering JMU’s campus) onto Carrier Dr.

Parking

Parking is available in both the D3 and C12 lots (marked in red), located approximately 100 yards from the East Campus Dining Hall, but it is preferable that you park in the C12 lot. Once parked, cross Carrier Drive and walk left until you reach the East Campus Dining Hall (the entrance faces north). No permit is required.
