This is a paid internship in Historic Preservation. The Fauquier County Department of Community Development is seeking one or two interns to work during the 2018 winter and/or spring semesters (February-April 2018). The intern(s) would be responsible for working closely with the Fauquier County Preservation Planner to identify and record approximately 30 historic cemeteries located throughout the county to be chosen from a previously-determined list of unrecorded cemeteries. Interns would be conducting fieldwork and completing the Fauquier County Cemetery Documentation Form for each cemetery, as well as conducting some research to determine probable family association of unmarked burials. This internship is intended for individuals with a background in historic preservation, history, anthropology, museum studies, American studies, or a similar field and an interest in cemetery documentation. Experience with GIS, Microsoft Word and Adobe Acrobat is preferable. Intern(s) will be expected to conduct fieldwork during business hours (8:00 a.m.-4:30 p.m.). Precise schedule to be determined with the selected candidates. This is a paid internship.
