As the premier burial ground for the nation’s capital city in the early 19th Century, Congressional became the final resting place for hundreds of notable individuals from across the country. This impressive roster of outstanding Americans enables Congressional to tell the story of America in all its many dimensions. Today Congressional is not the sleepy old burial ground you might expect; it is a vibrant active community of daily dog walkers, visiting descendants, history and genealogy researchers, school tours, living history presentations, marching bands, preservationists, and gardeners.
