Maelani Kling’s Portfolio

Hello

Hi all. I am a junior majoring in Hospitality with a minor in General Business. I’m from Virginia Beach, VA. I love tattoos, makeup, reading, and my puppy.

David Bowie

For my gab bag noun, I chose David Bowie. I decided to recreate one of the guitars he used during his last world tour. I used the sketch tool to help create the body and tip of the guitar. I didn’t quite get the print right, it ended up coming out very small and definitely too thin. Some of the parts that didn’t print I believe were because I made them too thin in Tinkercad, but another piece, like his signature, just wouldn’t print.

Moving Parts

When I thought of moving parts, I just decided on some gears. I took me about 3 prints to get it right, but even the last one (the yellow base) isn’t perfect. In the first print, I made the center notches too big and the same happened with the second print (the red one.) I had to change and reprint one of the gears because it didn’t fit well enough with the rest of the gears. I designed it so there would be a hole on the side to shove the gear through in order to turn it without the need of a large handle. Since I adjusted everything, I ended up having to cut one side in order to get the gear in place.
