Hello
I’m a senior health science student preparing to move to Dallas Texas after graduation. I love to paint, draw, and craft so naturally I thought a 3D printing class would be a cool way to expand into new mediums. I’ve actually taken a 3D printing class before but it was focused specifically on plastic solutions for the ocean.
Grab bag noun
My grab bag noun was elephant. For the design I tried to use simple shapes and merge them together to get my desired effect. I also tried to catch up and include moving parts in this design but I will touch more on that in the next post. The elephant printed well, but it also took a lot of supports!
20 objects
My 20 items include:
- Health Matters keychain
- JMU heart keychain
- Artist’s palette
- Geometric ball
- JAKIA dice
- Spikey J paper weight
- DST keychain
- OMG thoughts keychain
- Cursive Jakia
- Star ornament
- The star man
- Cute mug keychain
- The Chic chick
- The proposal
- BROCCOLI!!
- Cone hat
- Witches hat
- Smiley friend
- Fancy Jakia keychain
- Virginia is for lovers keychain
I also attempted to print the “BROCCOLI!!” I created this by stacking spheres, copying a pasting, and then resizing and grouping the items. I then used cylinders to create the stems. Because the bushy part sticks out horizontally I had to use supports to print, however with a little patience they all came off and the print was successful the first time.
Moving parts
For this assignment I wanted to expand on my grab bag item. I decided to use a ball and socket pieces and add them to my existing elephant. I grouped each piece of the ball and socket into cylinders to create the trunk, then I printed the pieces of the ball and socket in 2 pieces.
finished product:
Fusion 360 Ring:
I found this assignment a bit difficult but overall the ring turned out okay I wish more detail was shown in it! I actually printed it about 3 times and made adjustments but they all looked the same!
Below I will include pictures!
