My class progress.
I came into this class with some knowledge of 3D printing. I had previously taken a 3D printing class at JMU however we only used tinkercad for our designs.
This is my tinkercad final project.
It’s honestly one of my favorite pieces and I’m super proud of it. It took a lot of work, dedication, and attention to detail.
This is my Fusion 360 final project.
I found Fusion 360 very difficult. It took a lot of effort and additional resources for me to become somewhat confident with the software. I am happy with my final design even though it would take additional efforts to get it to print properly due to the shape. I really wanted to create a vase, and I played with the curved shapes that tinkercad couldn’t do.
This is my OpenSCAD final.
I liked how this turned out. The knot itself is simple, and I got the inspiration from the internet. Despite being simple it took a lot of effort to and trial and error to get the final product.
This is my final final product!
This is my senior year at JMU and I wanted this project to reflect my time at JMU. I opted for another building on campus because it fit what I wanted to accomplish. I know the style of building I wanted to do would be time consuming, but it was worth it in the end. As a health science major I spend all my time in HBS so I knew that was the building I wanted to create. Then I wanted to add a cap and gown and a diploma to commemorate my achievement. I chose Tinkercad because I am super confident in my abilities with it, and It was the best choice for creating a building. If I was able to actually print this I would have printed it in white, and then I would’ve painted it and finished with a sort of gloss. I wanted to design a keepsake to remind me of my time at JMU and my accomplishments.
Overall I have made a lot of progress in my understanding of 3D printing and design. I really did enjoy this course and I truly think I learned skills that will be useful in the future.
