Missile Safety Expedition Team (MSET)
Problem Statement
As the process for the development and deployment of missiles can take up to 10 years, the Missle Safety Expedition Team (MSET) has been tasked with developing a solution to expedite the development and deployment process of weapons ordinance systems for the NAVY.
Solution
Our team has developed two solutions as a means to expedite these processes. MSET has developed an education and hiring program that incorporates safety earlier in the development process of weapons systems as a means to facilitate the approval and purchasing of these weapons ordinance systems. An education program for engineers will establish a baseline knowledge of safety standards and protocols, to ensure weapons are safe enough for transportation and deployment. Furthermore, an effective training program has the potential to save the United States Military millions of dollars and take years off the approval process.
This will also be paired with the Missile Safety Liaison Hiring Initiative, an initiative that would create an application process and portal for those highly qualified to work in the fusing and development process of creating missiles. This will result in procuring highly educated and motivated individuals to take part in the safety development and communications processes between that of the NAVY, their safety review boards and outside contractors.
