Problem Statement

Command and Control (C2) operators experience operator burnout from information overload attributed to surveillance technology. We have determined that this information overload results from a user interface (UI) that is not customizable to the operators’ needs. Furthermore, we have discovered that this lack of a customizable user interface is due to a communication gap between the operator and the software developer; specifically, the operator has no medium to deliver feedback to the software developer.

Solution

Our solution addresses operator burnout and the feedback gap by introducing a streamline between operators and software developers. Firstly, addressing the UI. To effectively document an issue with the UI, a “feedback” feature will be directly incorporated into the UI. By engaging with the feedback feature, a screenshot will be instantaneously captured of the UI display, along with details regarding the machinery the operator is using, the time, date, and mission it was used for. After this screenshot is documented, the operator will be able to attach written feedback to describe what can be adjusted. Our second part is to institute a product manager position that handles the feedback and delivers it back to the software developers. This product manager will sort through the feedback entries, find commonalities between suggested feedback, and synthesize this information for delivery to the software developers.
