Weekly Updates
A page dedicated to walking through the progress our team makes each week.Week 10 4/19-4/25
Our group continues to make final touches to our presentation as we will be briefing our project sponsor soon! This week we get to listen to all the group’s presentations and help provide feedback. Our mentors from CGI will also be joining us to add their expertise as well. We are looking forward to seeing everyone’s progress as the semester begins to wrap up.
Week 9 4/12-4/18
We are working hard to finalize all the moving parts of our project. Our team continues to receive peer feedback and make edits where we see fit. This week, we asked our problem sponsor to take a look at our MVP as we wanted her input. She was thrilled with our progress and provided us with great recommendations to further improve the project.
Week 8 4/5-4/11
We are currently updating the latest version of our MVP. After receiving feedback from our peers on our last presentation, we are making a few changes to ensure our message is clear and concise. We are still working with builder.ai to create a working MVP and have provided a video walkthrough of how it works in our latest uploaded presentation.
Week 7 3/29-4/4
Great news! We are using builder.ai to help create our final MVP as the software allows us to pick the functions we wish to use. This will help us convey the new process of tacking credentials. We are so excited to see how this turns out as we still have time to make adjustments if needed.
Week 6 3/22-3/28
This week we created our second MVP presentation. We were able to incorporate an example of our solution and visually show what the product could look like. Before presenting, we wanted to get feedback from our mentors and sponsor to see if they had any suggestions. Our contacts think we are moving in the right path and are excited to see how our final MVP will turn out. We are currently updating our visuals to be interactive so that we can provide a real-time explanation of how the new system would work for their needs.
Week 5 3/15-3/21
Our group reached out to a Master Sergeant who was able to walk us through each individual step of the process for approving/uploading credentials to DTMS. This became extremely helpful as we were finally able to see the ins and outs of the entire process — not just the problem statement assigned to us. We agreed that creating a visual of the current process would help portray the problem to our audience in our next presentation.
Week 4 3/8-3/14
As we reflect on our halfway mark of the semester, we have come to realize that part of the problem revolves around the current process used to upload information into DTMS. There are several different people involved who all have an individual step that needs to be completed in order for the next task to begin. The process is long and vulnerable to human mistakes. We are in the process of pinpointing these additional issues and are working to find additional contacts to verify our realization.
Week 3 3/1-3/7
Our main goal this week was to learn more about Epic’s capabilities as a program. Through talking with a gentleman from customer service, we found out that Epic is very willing to work with the Army and accommodate to their wants and needs of an ideal system. The program is also able to be secured through a two-factor authentication which would help solve any security concerns. Epic is able to identify roles within the system for each person and can be defined as specific as the Army wants.
Week 2 2/23-2/29
This week we continued our interview process with a former Kaiser Permanente supervisor who dealt with monitoring credentials in the civilian world. We wanted to see how other medical facilities tracked their own respective credentials. We found out that Kaiser, along with many other civilian hospitals, uses a program called Epic. Epic already allows for multiple login roles — something our sponsor emphasized needed to be a part of our solution. This week we also presented our first presentation to a group of mentors from CGI. They guided us with constructive feedback on how to improve our public speaking skills as well and provided additional points of contact to further expand our MVP.
Week 1 2/16-2/22
This first week working on the project together, we got in contact with our project sponsor. We were able to grasp a better understanding of the problem at hand as we talked through the daily pains that come with using the current credentialing system known as DTMS. Our group realized that DTMS is not only outdated, but that several different platforms are being used throughout military hospitals to gather the appropriate information before it is being uploaded to DTMS. We now know that consolidating information will play a big role in our final MVP.
