Holden Tasillo

Holden is a junior Engineering student. He was recently hired as an engineering intern at the NewportNews Shipyard building aircraft carriers and nuclear submarines for the Navy. Holden enrolled in H4D to use it as an opportunity to work with and build networks with people currently working in DoD careers. Upon graduation he plans on starting a career in the Department of Defense.

Ethan Anderson

Ethan is a senior Engineering major with a minor in mathematics. He currently is planning to work at Apex Clean Energy in Charlottesville following graduation to have a career in renewable energy. Ethan was interested in this Hacking for Defense class because he loves solving problems and believed this class would challenge him with these grand DoD problems.  

Emma Benoit

Emma Benoit

Emma Benoit is a senior Political Science major with a Spanish Modern Language minor. She is currently an intern for Booz Allen Hamilton where she has continued to pursue her interest in government consulting. Emma enrolled in the Hacking for Defense course to learn new methods of problem-solving, work with government entities, and gain valuable experience. Following graduation, she intends to work in the consulting field.

Alyssa Cartee is a sophomore Intelligence Analysis major.  She is also a cadet of the JMU Duke Battalion and is minoring in Military Science & Leadership.  As a member of the Virginia National Guard, Alyssa is passionate about serving her country in more ways than one.  She joined Hacking for Defense to challenge herself academically, further develop her professional skills, as well as contribute to solving real-world issues.  Upon graduation, Alyssa will commission as an Army Officer and hopes to branch Military Intelligence.

Victoria shemo

Victoria shemo

Victoria is a sophomore International Affairs major with a minor in French. She is an Intelligence Analyst in the 378th Combat Sustainment Support Battalion in Annville, PA. Victoria joined Hacking for Defense to sharpen her analytical and critical thinking skills. After graduation from JMU in December 2022, Victoria hopes to go Active Duty in the Army and in the future, work for the State Department or Department of Homeland Security dealing with international affairs.
