Foodies in Florence #5

Foodies in Florence #5

This week we visited Mercado Centrale. It was so interesting walking around to the different stands and seeing all the foods they had to offer. From what I saw, everything was very reasonably priced, so it makes sense why it was so crowded. It was quite scary seeing the meat though so I quickly walked by those stands. I'm also not a big fan of fish and the scent was very very very strong! I loved seeing all the fresh fruits and I actually bought some to take back to the palazzo with me so I am excited to try them. I definitely see why it was important for us to visit this market because it is obviously such an important part of the Florence culture.

I honestly did not see much of a difference between the food in Florence and Naples. The only thing I did notice was that there are much more options here in Florence than there are in Naples. I still enjoyed the food a lot and hopefully I will have the chance to go back and try more food!

This week the food that took me most out of my comfort zone was the eggplant parmesan. I'm not a fan of eggplant but it looked amazing so I decided to try it and I actually really liked it. So far in Italy I have absolutely loved the pasta. No matter what pasta I get it is always so delicious. I would really like to make bread again but different kinds of breads so I am able to see the difference in how they are made!

This week I had such amazing food. Last weekend when we went to Siena I ordered pizza which was a lot different from the pizza in Florence and looked very similar to the pizza I usually have at home. I was not cut which was annoying but it was still great! One of my favorite restaurants in Florence is Roosters which makes a lot of American meals. I try not to go their often unless i'm really craving something from home. On Sunday I got french toast and a peanut butter, banana and almond milk smoothie and it was literally so good I almost shed a tear. I also got Fettuccine Alfredo at Dantes this week and it was delicious.
