Chili I made the past week for dinner. It was missing some onion and pepper and some chili powder but it was still very good for being without a recipe.

Blueberry ice cream latte I had before traveling Florence this past Sunday. Wasn’t the best but I will be going back to try their other coffees and food.

At the same caffe I found a chocolate chip cookie and had to try it because it was the first one I’ve seen here.

This week was a week of very non-italian food for me. With that being said this was a poke bowl I had during my trip to Monterosso this past weekend.

One of the best things I’ve tried this past week was this frozen coffee (they called it something else but I don’t remember what it was). This was so much better than frozen coffee in the States. The flavor and tastes were so prominent.

The Rome trip this past weekend might have been a bust but this lemon slushy was not. The taste was very good and refreshing for the hot day it was. The store it came from was very cute and sold only lemon products.

This was a traditional dessert of Napoli. I like to refer to it as a rum mushroom, but it is a rum soaked cake and layered with a cream and pistachio butter. I wasn’t a huge fan but I’m glad I got to experience it.

I also got to try a cuppo, which is a traditional street food item in Napoli. It contained various fried items including small arancini, fried dough, and fried mashed potatoes with a few other things.

I don’t remember what this is called but it’s another traditional fried street food item. It’s basically fried dough with a bit of tomato sauce a piece of mozzarella and a leaf of basil.

I think this was my favorite pasta dish I have had since coming to Italy and it was also the cheapest. This is Genovese and is a traditional dish of Naples. The flavor was amazing and consisted of the perfect amount of saltiness.

At the same restaurant I experienced my first 2 course meal. No, the food I chose doesn’t really pair together but the second course I got that is shown in the picture is fried cod. It wasn’t anything special but I enjoyed it nonetheless.

One food not pictured that took me out of my comfort zone this week was seafood risotto that I got in Rome. I got it because I like seafood but I usually just have one thing at a time or know what is in something I’m eating. I decided to just go for it, but in the end I was not happy with my decision. I think it was just the restaurant we decided to go to and not the risotto. I would definitely give it a try again but at a different place.

I honestly have enjoyed all the dishes I have gotten to experience thus far but the pasta dishes have really stuck out to me. The variety of sauces and ways to make pasta is fascinating and is good every time I have something similar but just a tad different.

I loved making the pizza in class and would love to do it again but maybe a different style, like stuffed crust or even a thicker crust. I think pizza is another very variable dish an learning how to make different styles is interesting.
