Never want to leave Italy just so I don’t have to say goodbye to the food. I am eating so well here, except for Rome but we’ll get to that….I hate Rome. Majority of the food I’ve had is comfort food to me, due to simpler ingredient and yummy flavors. Rome was the only out of comfort meal for me, mostly since the menu price was $8 and they tried to charge me $80. The dish in question is pictured fourth and was the fatty parts of the steak, making it almost uneatable. I also had subpar spicy penne, pictured 3rd, which wasn’t even spicy to me. I needed up cutting off 50% of the steak to avoid chewing for 15 minutes…it didn’t help. My recommendation is to be very careful where you eat, by avoiding large menus with multiple pages and avoid places with someone outside trying to get you inside.

In the second picture was my lunch in Naples, from a local family-owned restaurant I ordered Carbonara! It was top 3 dishes I’ve had in Italy. I also had table white wine and a hamburger patty (no bun, it was sad) with oil covered zucchini, I didn’t eat that. The restaurant had beautiful artwork on the ceiling with flowers draping down from it as well, plus three chandeliers. A truly gorgeous dining room. I know that delivery or takeout isn’t too popular in Italy; however, they seem to get a lot of delivery business. A teenage boy come in and out several times to get a several bags each trip. Each time dropping money then getting bags within two minutes. In total he did this around 5-6 times during our meal. With a limited number of tables, I see why he was so busy.

During class on Monday my group made these fried rice balls stuffed with mozzarella and peas called Arancini di Riso. Originally from Sicilian, this recipe will hopefully me a part of my weekly cooking back in the States. Although a little time consuming, it’s broken up into two days thanks to chilling the rice overnight. I had planned to actually make these today; however, our risotto was a little to crunchy and I had to make it today with no time for it (I’m traveling this weekend). This dish was so fun to make and I can see myself making this with friends. The best antipasti/street food/yummy snack I’ve had here!
