Even though I’ve only been in Florence a little over a week now, I’ve been thoroughly enjoying the cuisine that I’ve tried so far. The coffees I’ve tried have honestly been some of my favorites, with one in particular being the cappuccino pictured. I’ve noticed the coffees here seem to be less strong than the ones in America which I did not expect, but I do believe I prefer the ones I’ve had here more. I’ve also had the chance to try bruschetta and an antipasti platter from the Italian Gastronomy class, limoncello, a sausage pizza, and a cheeseburger from an Italian McDonalds. I’ll go ahead and say that the McDonald’s cheeseburger was the most underwhelming item on the list, but the pizza was a pleasant surprise. This particular pizza’s tomato sauce was not what I expected; it wasn’t as sweet as the ones I’m used to. The sausage was also different from typical pepperoni but I still enjoyed it. As far as other pizzas I’ve tried, I’ve had the ones from the first group dinner, this sausage pizza, and a margherita pizza. The crusts all seemed to be the same, but I particularly enjoyed the sauces on the margherita pizza because it seemed to have some kind of cheese mixed into the tomato sauce. I’m looking forward to trying Gusta Pizza since I haven’t stopped by yet, but the margherita pizza with the extra cheese mixed into the sauce is my current favorite.
