Although I have only sampled what Florence has to offer, I am in love. The fresh ingredients are making all the difference, which could also be partly due to the European laws on pesticides. At McDonalds I ordered a Sprite to drink, but it tasted more similar to an American diet Sprite due to the less sugary taste. I believe that shows how Europeans may control substances going into food and beverage more compared to the substances in American Food. This pairs well with Italians’ idea of a meal being a social event, focused on good food and drinks. With some meals taking three hours over several courses, I am thankful for the smaller portions to try more plates during meals. However, every Pizza I’ve ordered is too big to finish in one sitting, so I take half of it home with me. Pictured above is a Pizza from Pasta Bar with ham, mushroom, and mozzarella. The quality of the crust had to be from a wood burning oven, making the cheese melt perfectly. I have only tried that pizza and the pizza from the first night, which has a crust I did not prefer. It also had toppings piled on top including raw onions and peppers which I am not a fan of.
I’m hoping to continue to make meals in our Kitchen here with friends to dive into creating and appreciating the food here even more. Seen in the first photo, so far we have created pasta with canned sauce and meatballs. I’m hoping to challenge myself and my cooking skills with cooking my own sauce or even homemade pasta (I’ve spotted a class for this already). Florence has so much to offer and I hope to experience it on a multitude of platforms.
Wow, looks amazing
