Mercato Centrale was a huge market that was filled with a diversity of cultural foods. It consisted of two floors and the bottom area had more ingredients that you could buy and the top floor was filled with different types of foods you can try ranging from different Italian foods to American foods. The market has a seating and dining for people to sit and enjoy the food unlike street vendors where it is based on a grab and go atmosphere. Also, the food in the market is usually more over priced than street foods. Other than the culinary diversity and food quality, it was interesting seeing that the market holds cooking classes and events on the second floor attracting hundreds of tourists and students. I have eaten at the market twice and it was amazing. The food was fresh and felt like I was eating a home cooked meal. Visiting Mercato Centrale is important for our cooking class because we are learning different culinary traditions and different food histories.
