A caprese bruschetta I got as a antipasto out on our excursion back to Naples this past weekend. I ordered a Caprese and though it was just going to be mozzarella and tomatoes with basil and maybe some balsamic.

On our little boat trip I cooked the group a little homemade meal. Nothing special just some pasta and bolognese sauce from the store, buttered bread and green beans with olive oil and balsamic. It was my first experience on a boat and my first time cooking on a boat so I thought I would share.

This is a spaghetti with mussels and pecorino cheese that I got as my main meal in Castellammare di Stabia. I enjoyed the meal but the look of the mussels was freaking me out a bit.

As a dessert to finish off our meal we got this fried dough ring that was stuffed with Nutella. This was probably one of my favorite desserts I have had but honestly, who could go wrong with fried dough and Nutella.

This has been my second experience with Starbucks in Europe and I just thought I would share how they spelled my name. In the U.S. my name is never spelled correctly because no one usually spells it with an “I” but here I have gotten the widest variations of my name and i love it. One thing I’ll share though is that like everything else here the drinks are a lot less sweet here in Italy compared to the ones made in the U.S.

We decided we wanted more of an American styled breakfast this week so we stopped at mama’s bakery and I couldn’t resist this single serving of cheesecake. It was the perfect little treat and was just what I needed.

Also at mama’s bakery I got an egg and cheese bagel and a vanilla cappuccino. The bagel had a great flavor and the seed choice for the everything bagel was a very nice combination and I really enjoyed the addition of sunflower seeds. I wasn’t a fan of the egg and cheese part but will go back to just get another bagel with potentially cream cheese and salmon.

I haven’t gotten not experience much food in Florence but it is something I’m trying to work on starting this week. The one difference I have noticed from food here and food in Naples is that Naples loves to incorporate fried food into their dishes, for example the fried pumpkin flowers that were stuffed with ricotta that we had in Pompeii. Here in Florence the   foods are more hearty. They seem to contain more land meats too like rabbit, beef, pigeon, etc. The protein source in Naples was mainly types of fish.
