As I prepare to be in Florence this summer, I am reminded of my previous excursions through the streets of this beautiful city. Roaming through Mercato Centrale looking for just the right fish or mushrooms, exploring the market right outside my door in the square at Santo Spirito, or visiting one of the local cafes or restaurants, every moment in Florence is an explosion of the senses.
Today I sat down to plan my class. It is so difficult. There are so many places to go and foods to taste; so many regions to learn about and gelato to be had. I promise to lead you through my beautiful summer city the best way I can…….by sharing each delicious bite.
For now, the church bells are peeling in my memory and the smells of freshly prepared Florentine foods are dancing through my brain.
