What do we mean by “Gender, Science and Ethnography Lab?”
We are interested in both issues around gender and working in a feminist epistemological framework. We’re taking science and the production and proliferation of scientific ideas, technologies, and materials as our main research focus.
We also approach these issues through an anthropological lens drawing on ethnographic theories and methods.
These research commitments show up in the research and writing we do together and also, in the ways we’ve organized ourselves as a lab and through our feminist praxis.
By lab we mean a collective of researchers bound together with a common research project, a collective vision of how to work together and what it means to share protocols and resources.
Ultimately, we’ve chosen this name to give us an umbrella of analytic and methodological focus, while approaching each of these terms in as expansive a scope as possible
