Today the tidal team assembled our gimbal and GoPro 3 to our quadcopter. A gimbal is a mechanism that keeps an instrument like a camera horizontal and in a stable position while in motion. We need a gimbal because it is almost impossible to stabilize the camera long enough for clear aerial images.
The gimbal hangs from the bottom of the quadcopter. The original legs were to short, so we tried to 3D print extended legs, but that failed and they were not stable enough. Our final solution was to buy these extended legs which can be seen in the photo below. This keeps out quadcopter stable during liftoff and landing and allows us to calibrate our quad copter properly.
