Tidal flooding affects the lives of many people who live in coastal areas such as Norfolk, VA. Therefore there is great need for the accurate recording and mapping of flooded areas, we look to use our drone to introduce a more accurate and efficient process to gathering this information. The Tidal Flooding Group had its initial meeting with George McLeod on Thursday October 13th. George Mcleod is our adviser for our project. Mcleod is the Assistant Director for The Center of Geo-spatial and Visualization Computing here at Old Dominion University. In the meeting, we discussed much of the framework needed to get started on the project. Norfolk, VA is an area that is prone to tidal flooding, therefore the need for accurate data, imagery, and maps to analyze this flooding is essential. George McLeod gave us some information on the flooding in the area as well as some tools and technology that can be used to assist us throughout the process of designing our Drone. One of the key focal points of our project would be taking imagery from our drone and accurately plotting GPS points throughout the area and producing maps which depict areas of flooding.
