Here is our proposed bill of materials. Due to time restraints, we could not build a drone from scratch. Instead, we chose to purchase a prebuilt chassis. The HEXH2O is a waterproof drone chassis that meets all of our requirements. The payload release system is only listed as an alternative to the payload release we plan to design. The Tiger motors are top of the line motors. They are extremely light and powerful, providing a large load capacity and roughly 17 minutes of mixed flight time. The Graupner Propellers are relatively large (13×8), but this is necessary in order to produce enough drive to carry flotation devices. We may choose to go with a 6.5 pitch instead of 8 in order to gain slightly more flight time at the cost of reduced load capacity. This depends on our final all up weight and how heavy the flotation device is. The gimbal is used in conjunction with the GoPro to maintain a steady camera position. In order to cut down on costs I proposed an alternative to the Tiger motors. The DJI E600 are good motors that will get the job done, however, using them will cut our flight time and load capacity. Four totals are shown at the bottom. These list the total costs with our proposed setup, as well as alternatives. These items are subject to change.
