Meet the Team

Sherrill “Grace” Curry
Grace is a senior majoring in international affairs with a concentration in foreign policy and global governance and a minor in history. During her time at James Madison University, Grace recently been involved in organizations on campus such as the Madison Historians, and JMU UNICEF, and was the Amplify Director for the University Program Board. Fueled by her love for history, locally and internationally, she has interned at the Fauquier History Museum at the Old Jail and worked with JMU’s History Department. She currently works at the Museum of Culpeper History in Culpeper, Virginia. Grace’s hopes for her career are to either expand on her museum experience or branch off and work for the government in some capacity. She is not opposed to living and working abroad as well. In a few years, Grace may apply to graduate school to pursue a Master’s Degree in Humanitarian Affairs or Nonprofit work.

Taylor Nauflett
Taylor Nauflett is a Senior majoring in International Affairs with a concentration in Global Human Development, and she minors in Spanish and African, African American, and Diaspora Studies. At James Madison University, Taylor is actively involved in Delta Phi Epsilon, a professional foreign service society, where she held the positions of Community Outreach Director and Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Chair. Taylor was awarded the Gillespie Fellowship by the Furious Flower Poetry Center, where she conducts poetry workshops at Harrisonburg High School. Outside of JMU, Taylor is an Equity and Inclusion intern at US Sailing and serves as a Youth Development Professional at the Boys & Girls Club. After her time at JMU, Taylor hopes to join the Peace Corps in the Youth Development sector. She aims to use her education and experience abroad to impact marginalized and developing communities positively.

Adonis Ortiz
Adonis Ortiz (he/him/his) is a Fall 2023 graduate with a dual B.A. in Political Science and International Affairs and a minor in pre-law. Adonis participated in the JMU debate team for two years, where he was the team’s vice president. He was nationally recognized as a first-year Debater of the Year and led his team to a national championship in 2022. Adonis also has participated in other activities such as the EU Schuman challenge at JMU, where he presented to EU members to help find solutions for the Afghanistan conflict; campaigned for city council members in New York, including Alexandria Ocasio Cortez, and for President Joe Biden in the 2020 elections; interned and worked as a temporary employee at the Hispanic Federation as a Policy analyst and Legislative Assistant for six months. Adonis is passionate about creating common ground and plans to pursue a career in domestic policy to run for office in New York.

Anabella Rubio
Anabella is a Senior majoring in International Affairs with a concentration in Foreign Policy and Global Governance, as well as a minor in Economics. At James Madison University, Anabella has been actively involved in Student Defenders and Phi Alpha Delta, a professional Pre-Law Fraternity. Anabella has been the Associate Director of Student Defenders for two years and the Publicity Chair for Phi Alpha Delta for one year. She is also involved in Gamma Sigma Sigma, a community service sorority in which she does volunteer work. Anabella also has worked at the Forbes Center of Performing Arts on campus for a year. After graduation, Anabella plans to spend one year working as a paralegal and continuing her education through a Master’s Program.

Alexander Weisman
Alexander Weisman is a Fall 2023 graduate with a B.A. in International Affairs. During his time at JMU, he served as a research assistant and writer for JMU’s student newspaper, The Breeze, where he wrote cultural reviews on local theater, art, and movies. A highlight of his college career was participating in JMU’s Washington Semester program, where he completed courses, worked as a public affairs intern, and explored D.C. Passionate about foreign policy, Alex co-founded JMU’s chapter of the Alexander Hamilton Society, which hosted two speaker events during its first semester on campus. He looks forward to returning as an alumni and connecting with future Washington Semester students.
