Government of the Leader, by the Leader, and for the Leader?  The Ethics Crisis in Washington

Walter Shaub, the former Director of the U.S. Office of Government Ethics,  a senior adviser with Citizens for Responsibility and Ethics in Washington (CREW) and an alumni from JMU– Shaub was a history major– and Gabe Lezra, an attorney and CREW policy counsel, discussed the current ethics crisis in Washington and efforts to enforce ethical norms in government.

Is the executive branch of the federal government in a state of ethical crisis?  Donald Trump’s decision to retain his vast portfolio of financial interests and appoint his daughter and son-in-law to critical policymaking positions have led many to ask whether Trump family finances are influencing government policy.  What, if anything, should be done to protect the integrity of our institutions and guard against conflicts of interest in policymaking?
