Wednesday June 26th – Thursday June 27th, 2013: As part of the Department of Chemistry & Biochemistry’s outreach efforts through the REU Program, Casey and 5 JMU professors helped run a science camp at the Virginia School for the Deaf and Blind (VSDB). The camp was themed “Flight”. The goal was to show students what research and science are about.
JMU spend all of Wednesday with the campers doing activities with rockets, Diet Coke and Mentos, birds, and different gases.
On Thursday the students came to JMU for a tour of the building, a parachute building event, and a magic show.
