Reimagining, Redesigning, and Re-announcing
the JMU Virtual Reality tour

We’ve taken on the task of improving the JMU VR experience, that is meant to add to the entire JMU experience of prospective students/ show off what JMU students can accomplish. A group of students last year started this great experience, creating every aspect of it from start to finish. The JMU X-Labs is a department that is focus innovation in emerging technology, and projects are carried out by students. With only half of a semester to do such a large feight, the tour was unituitize, filled with bugs, but worked perfectly as a rough mold to build off of. The JMU Virtual Reality tour As a team we decided rather than rebuild the tour from the ground up we worked hard to revitalize different aspects of it and get rid of the things that we didn’t need.

The Process

The Impact

We are building on past X-labs students’ work on a project that has real life implications on the JMU campus. Our project had already been implemented in Madison Hall (the admissions building) by past students in this course. Our challenge was taking the content they created and add on and improve upon it. But the project was to add something special to JMU’s campus that not many universities have. To set ourselves apart from the competition and show other schools the cool stuff we are doing as well as to add to the experience of prospective students. It shows first hand what JMU students are capable of doing but also they get to see JMU virtually if they cannot tour themselves for whatever reason.
