Encyclopedia of Artificial Intelligence: The Past, Present, and Future of AI

Second and Expanded Edition

Philip L. Frana and Michael J. Klein, Editors

We are excited to announce that we are preparing the second edition of the Encyclopedia of Artificial Intelligence: The Past, Present, and Future of AI, to be published by Bloomsbury Press in 2026. This updated and expanded edition will be available in hardcopy, paperback, and electronic formats. The Encyclopedia of AI is an essential resource for those interested in the rapidly growing field of artificial intelligence.

We are currently seeking contributors to write entries for this edition. Below, you will find the remaining headwords and word counts available for the second edition. Crossed out headwords are already assigned. Contributors will be expected to deliver their drafts within six weeks of selection.

As a token of our appreciation, each contributor will receive an electronic copy of the completed encyclopedia.

If you are interested in contributing, please contact franapl@jmu.edu with the entries you are interested in writing. Entries will be assigned on a rolling basis, so we encourage you to respond promptly.

The Encyclopedia of AI is designed for a broad audience including students, professionals, and general readers with an interest in AI. You can find more information about the first edition on the publisher’s site.

Thank you for considering this opportunity to contribute to this important project.

Warm regards,

Michael J. Klein, Ph.D. & Philip L. Frana, Ph.D.
