Harrisonburg Public Transportation

For those staying at the Hotel Madison, the Inner Campus shuttle schedule may be found here. The Inner Campus Shuttle is free when boarding buses anywhere on campus. When boarding other buses in the City (i.e. off campus), you may need to pay a fare.

Most attractions in Harrisonburg offer parking lots, but for parking downtown, view the downtown parking map.

Airports
The closest local airport is Shenandoah Valley Regional Airport (SHD).

The next closest airport is Charlottesville Albemarle Airport (CHO). The ride is about one hour.

Washington Dulles International Airport (IAD) has a Virginia Breeze Valley Flyer connection that goes to Harrisonburg. A southbound bus leaves from Dulles at 10:50 daily.The ride is just over two hours. More information and ticketing may be found here. 

A JMU trip bus has been arranged for travelers. It leaves Dulles International Airport promptly at 11 am on 2/11/25 to get you to Hotel Madison in time for check-in and attendance of pre-conference events.

Conference Parking

JMU issues virtual permits for parking. Ours are valid 2/11/2025 7:00:00 AM-2/15/2025 10:00:00 PM. These permits will enable our guests to park, free of charge, in the Mason Street Parking Deck levels 3 – 5.

To redeem their virtual permits, guests should go to https://jmu.aimsparking.com and click on “Redeem Event Permit.” They will be prompted to select their event, enter the event code, and enter their vehicle information. Upon confirming the transaction, they will receive an email receipt. Directions for redeeming visitor permits can be found online at https://jmu.edu/parking/event-parking/event_redemptions.pdf.

The code to redeem your parking pass can be found in the email about transportation.

Please consult the campus parking map as you plan for your trip. The Union Building where Taylor Hall and the Union Ballroom is located at B 3-4 on the map.

Note: The assigned permits do not allow us to park in specially designated spaces such as Service Vehicle spaces, accessible spaces without proper permit, or expired timed spaces. They are also prohibited from parking in Fire Lanes.
